--A FILM BY PEDRO PANTALEÓN & MANU CID--
From Madrid to Berlin, New York or San Francisco, “Visualist, Those Who See Beyond” trips through the history of video creation through the perspective of the most relevant international artists. From the depths of the underground to mainstream events and their introduction in museums and exhibitions.
Since the Big Bang, light has given shape to the world and it has been the energy that allows artistic expression throughout history. Visualist is a portrait of artists who use light as prime matter, who tell us how everything started in audiovisual art, how it is evolving and where is it going.
Moderat’s live shows, video installations for Richie Hawtin, OK Go’s videoclips… The geniuses behind these shows are the seed of a next-generation art form, creators of own worlds, pioneers in the shadows who use AV technology as a form of artistic expression and… perhaps elevating art to the next level?
Back in the day, the artistic value of photography or cinema was questioned, but nowadays they are both recognized artistic disciplines. Visualist proposes the AV world as the artistic format of the future, an urban art form born from club culture, which already set foot on more “orthodox” places like museums, which grows exponentially, and probably will reach beyond our imagination.
The documentary features the following artists: Daito Manabe, Herman Kolgen, Joanie Lemercier, 1024 Architecture, Myriam Bleau, Robert Henke, Pfadfinderei, Gmunk, Alba Corral, Alex Augier, Daniel Canogar, Adam Smith, Zach Lieberman, Merrill Aldighieri, Angel Molina, Itaru Yasuda, Matt Black, The Light Surgeons, Martin Posta, Playmodes, Skullmapping, Mr. Beam, Ali M. Demirel, Hamill Industries, Marta Verde and Steve Giralt
